Light is a necessary condition for plant growth, plant growth not only needs water, fertilizer, appropriate temperature, but also needs light for photosynthesis. Plant fill light is made according to the principle of photosynthesis by plants using sunlight, and its spectrum and power are in line with the absorption and utilization of sunlight by plants.

Different wavelengths of light have different effects on plants. 600~720nm red light can promote the overall growth of plants and increase the growth rate and fruit yield, 420~510nm blue light can promote chlorophyll and carotenoid absorption, accelerate plant development, 500~585nm yellow light can promote root and early germination growth.

 


Red light and blue light are the main light substances that affect the quality change of fruit during the color transformation period, and the combination of red and blue light can increase the content of photosynthetic pigment, which has a great effect on the fruit yield and quality. Taking tomato as an example, combined light supplementation can increase the soluble solid content, soluble protein content and lycopene content of tomato fruit.

 


There are two main types of plant fill light, and the commonly used artificial light sources are mainly fluorescent lamps and light-emitting diodes (leds).

Fluorescent lamps are made of rare earth tricolor phosphors, with a wide multi-segment light band, including common visible light such as red, blue, yellow, green, etc., and a small amount of infrared and ultraviolet light. It has high luminous efficiency, low cost and high cost performance, and is widely used in agriculture at present.

 


Light-emitting diodes (leds) use semiconductor lighting, which can be customized according to the light requirements of crop types and different growth stages. Light-emitting diode (LED) is a kind of cold light source, which has the advantages of high photoelectric conversion efficiency, small size, long life and low energy consumption. Its wavelength can be adjusted according to needs, but the high cost limits its application.
